About the Warmun Suite (a-i) This collection of nine prints is made by the Aboriginal community of Warmun in the Kimberleys, a region in Northern Australia. These artists are well-known for their minimal ochre landscapes. Each portrait depicts a historical event or an important site in the landscape related to the “Dreamtime”, the mythical time of creation. As one can see, although each artist has his or her personal style of painting, the overall effect of the series is one of unity. (The size refers to the sheet size) |
